Backlighting

We can create backlighting for almost any cut-out seen in our catalog. We prefer to keep any wiring and hardware completely hidden. Battery powered and plug in options can be provided for decorative and industrial signage solutions.

See below for examples of custom backlighting.

Mounting Styles

Bolt holes
Bolt holes for mounting range from 1/8″ – 1/2″

Depending on the size of the piece, we will space these out by 16″ apart to match wall studs.

(1/8″ hole pictured for small picture frame nails or #8 wood screws)

Welded studs
Welded machine screws or threaded rods are used for mounting to decorative wooden backing plates.

Hangers
Welded hangers for mounting to a wall. (Leaves about 3/8″ – 1/2″ offset from the wall)

Depending on the size of the piece, we will space these out by 16″ apart to match up with standard wall studs.

Multiple Layered Artwork

Multiple colours require multiple layered cut-outs. Extra time is required for creating a layered assembly of powder coated artwork.

Assemblies are usually constructed with rivets, machine screws or bolts. Our designers put great care into selecting the best solution for each piece.

Multiple layered cut-outs require a design fee in advance which gives you dedicated time with our designers who can provide you with consultation and options before quoting and cutting the final pieces from metal.

See below for examples of multiple layered artwork.

Contact us directly if you would like to discuss custom artwork requiring multiple layered sections.

Photographed Silhouettes

We can convert real photographs to metal cut-outs.

We require a design fee of $250 up front for the artist to create a custom vector artwork from a photograph. We recommend first checking on Google images for simple ready-made vector files. Or commission an artist of your choosing who can supply us with the vector artwork to be quoted.

Unfortunately, we won’t know the cost of producing the actual piece from metal until we have a ready to cut vector artwork.

See below for examples of photographed silhouettes converted to steel cutouts.

Our designer can convert just about any photo however, it must meet the following design criteria to be cut:

  • No floating pieces that will fall away
  • No features thinner than the material being cut (example 1/8″ min. thick line work in 1/8″ plate)
  • No cut lines thinner than the material being cut (example min. 1/8″ slots thickness in 1/8″ plate)
  • No holes smaller than the material being cut (example min. 1/8″ diameter holes in 1/8″ plate)

If the artwork is unusable, the designer will make suggestions for you at no extra cost.

Our talented team can handle the entire process for you. You can simply provide us with with your vision and design constraints such as size or budget. To do so we require a design fee up front which gives you dedicated time with one of our designers who can provide you with consultation and options before quoting and cutting the final piece from metal.

Let us know if you have any other questions – we’re happy to help!
